Mount Sant Angelo Mercy
SEED Engineers addressed the challenges at Mount Sant Angelo Mercy by creating a functional and efficient cooking teaching area within the school’s existing building. The project required the installation of six island cooking benches in a space with limited height and no option for high-level exhaust discharge. To overcome these constraints, we devised two separate kitchen exhaust systems and selected Coanda hoods for effective odour treatment. Using REVIT, we created a 3D plan that accommodated both the exhaust systems and acoustic control measures, maintaining a functional height of 2100AFFL. Our innovative solutions ensured that the teaching area met all performance requirements, leaving our client highly satisfied.

The Challenges Faced
The school needed a cooking teaching area that involved six island cooking benches. The existing building had some very constrained building spatials, with the soffit height at 2600AFFL. There was no way to discharge at high level, meaning that the discharge needed a performance solution for a low level discharge. Acoustic control for teaching was also a concern.
The Solution Provided
To keep ducts down to a small size, we devised two separate kitchen exhaust systems. We selected a renowned hood manufacturer (Coanda hoods) that could provide the odoru treatment needed to avoid odour nuisance. Using REVIT, we were able to devise a 3D plan to have the systems and the relevant acoustic control fit in the space maintaining 2100AFFL. Our client is happy with the result.
