Most projects move through phases – concept, calculations, documentation, and site.

Most engineers have a preferred phase or strength. We arrange our work such that it travels through a team of engineers so that they are working in their preferred phase.

We believe that a relay race of 4x100m runners will always beat a single 400m sprinter. In the same way, a project is usually best served by bringing a team of engineers who each do one phase of the project particularly well.

We call this the relay race and it has challenges. Just like a real relay race, the baton changeover (changing from one phase to another) is critical. Yet it is also useful, as it permits a regular review of the project against client objectives. It allows our staff to share project experiences and it means more people are familiar with the project.
